Thanks as ever Jon for the numbers. A friend told me last week that none of the current drugs induce REM sleep in someone suffering insomnia. Is this so? Don't they facilitate REM sleep by providing a precondition to REM sleep - non-REM sleep?

I'm assuming REM sleep is lacking in an insomniac. If it is then surely any and all drugs that don't increase it are lacking in effectiveness?
