Most good parents know that the world we will inhabit in the 21st century will be a global market place, whether we in the US like that or not. If we do not equip our children with a first rate education, they will be competing against the uneduated labor of the world- and there is a lot of uneducated labor out there, and much of it comes mighty cheap.

It is a terrible terribly disservice to fail to equip your child to meet this global marketplace fully prepared. A college education is not the only way to meet the marketplace, but if you aren't going that route, you better be planning your future with a trade school, or in an apprentice program. I do not see Palin doing any of this planning. She seems blithely ignorant of the challenges we face. I'm sure she could give me a good soundbite on it, but if you look at her support of schools, and science, and her preparation of her own kids, it's a sad sad picture.

The world isn't clamoring for a whole bunch more college dropouts, or crappy second rate college students.

I hope Palin gets hold of a copy of 2 Million Minutes. It managed to wake up my seniors to the perils of being uneducated in the global marketplace- maybe Palin ought to show it to her own children.
