That is why his appearance today at the University of Nebraska was so important to a president who was once the beacon of hope for college-aged voters, most of whom eight years later view him with far less interest and in some cases, outright animosity. He awoke to news of last night being his lowest rated State of the Union speech of his presidency. Even the phalanx of sycophants who surround him can no longer filter out the feelings of indifference and/or hostility so many throughout the country have for him.
