kumar, I can understand you using that word because, if I am not mistaken, you originate from India, which has a British influence on the language. I see nothing wrong with the word, but the problem in the US is that there are too many people that don't have a sufficient vocabulary, or are just looking for something to get angry about.
Since it is not an offensive word, you have every right, as does anyone else, to use it without fear of hurting someone's delicate feelings.
The word is of an old style of speaking, and is not frequently used here, and I have never heard it here, but that doesn't make it an insult in any country. Well, I guess if someone is a cheapskate, and someone calls him on it, he might get a little angry, but he ought to be ashamed. |
