Would they be labeled as patriots and entitled to run for elections ? That is up to the Iraqis. I suspect that the hard core Baathists will be treated the same way the hard core Nazis were in Germany in WWII. Some will go to jail, others will be barred from politics. People just can't believe that the Iraqis are going to run things. We have to let them. It is their country, and it is the only way we can get out of there. We will insist on some security measures, and probably have trouble with the Kurds. But that is to be expected, and will be handled. People who think like you just can't get rid of the idea that we are trying to set up an empire.
