E.Digital Unveils Portable Internet Music Player

E.Digital Corp. turned heads with its display in Las Vegas, with help from International Business
Machines Corp. After languishing as a penny stock, E.Digital shares were rising in anticipation of its
appearance at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. But its shares showed
they have legs when the company finally hit the stage Thursday, gaining 44% for a new 52-week high.
E.Digital's shares were at 9, up $2.75, at 4 p.m. Thursday on Nasdaq on volume of 20.5 million
shares. In Las Vegas, E.Digital unveiled its portable Internet music player, which uses IBM's
340-megabyte Microdrive component. The device, which can hold up to five and a half hours of
compressed music downloaded from the Internet or CDs, will be displayed in the IBM Technology
Suite until Saturday.
