If I knew for certain that revenues for Intel would be flat YOY at the end of Q1 and that earnings would only be $.20 per share, I still would not short Intel. Why? There are a few stocks on the Dow and the Nasdaq that you do not short because they do not behave like any other stocks. Do you think that Dell, with all the sh*t that has come down on that company, would still be trading at $38 if it were any other company.

And that's true of Intel too. Almost every tech/growth fund has a large position in Intel. Its the fav of every hedge fund as well; not to mention the retail customer. Consequently stocks like Intel defy the laws of gravity.....eventually, if they don't get their act together, they do go down but it takes a lot of screwups to make that happen.

So if someone won't short Intel, its not because they are fearful; its 'cause they are not stupid.
