BCE (Bell Canada Enterprises) has reported its results for Q4 and YE 2000. BCE owns 80% of Bell Canada, which in turn wholly owns the wireless operator Bell Mobility. The remaining 20% holding in Bell Canada is owned by SBC.
Bell Mobility
Bell Mobility now claims that its 2.34 million customer base consists of 38% on a digital (CDMA-8/19) service and the remainder on AMPS networks. This indicates that Q4 2000 saw the first decrease in AMPS subscriber base.

For the first time Bell Mobility revealed the performance of its mobile internet product, Mobile Browser. As of YE 2000 Bell Mobility had registered 300,000 users of the Mobile Browser service. The figure indicates that Bell's offering leads the wireless data market in Canada.
