Richard Nixon used the movement to his advantage. It culminated when Ronald Reagen won in 1980. Newt Gingrich and the neocons solidified the coalition and tried to create a permanent majority. They did a pretty good job. RW think tanks were created. This movement is not going to die that easily. They have a life of their own. RW wing talk radio and Fox News are here to stay. In fact Fox News has the highest ratings in cable television and is still growing. Right wing talk radio is flourishing. The RW has control of the SC. Imo, they get more than 50% of the decisions. Kennedy leans to the right. The silent majority remains and leans to the right. Only now, they don't have to be ashamed for holding Palin views (her "worldview"). They can't express how they feel, but they know what they feel is right and nothing that you can say can change their minds. And, besides, they will always have Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and the SC articulating what they are feeling. They are hard working, God fearing, and Patriotic Americans. They are still part of the silent majority. They are not able to voice their opinions. They leave that up to their surrogates. They are not on the street corners touting their views and they certainly are not talking to pollsters, but they will show up on election day. The race is not over. The fat lady is part of the silent majority. You have got work to do.
