Dennis,
Funny you should mention Microsoft as an internet play. I've been thinking a lot about that. They certainly are working all of the internet angles. I saw in somewhere last week (maybe in IBD) that Microsoft and MSNBC are the two most visited sites after Yahoo! and AOL. They were ahead of Excite, Lycos, and Netscape! Microsoft has a great site for investors and I think they also support an internet auto purchasing site. I don't think they are making significant (if any) money on web site content, yet. Microsoft has also bought into cable and set-top boxes to encourage higher bandwidth links on the internet. Not to mention their work on browsers, Front Page, Java, etc. I believe Windows 98 can be set up to collect bug fixes and updates automatically. I wonder if they will get into software sales over the internet at some point. And you know Microsoft--their first attempts are usually deficient--but they never give up, and they improve rapidly. Even if Microsoft isn't an internet play today, we ought to keep our eyes open so we spot it before the herd does.
