Have you ever run a business before? If so, it would be interesting to hear from you how you handled customer support and kept your customers satisfied with your service or product. Was it expensive to provide customer support? Did you have to raise price in order to stay in business? Were all of your customers reasonable?

Consumers (who want everything for free) and hyper competition drive the price a business can charge to zero, and then customers complain that they can't get any customer service.

I know that Datek has been a favorite broker for many investors, because Datek listened to their customers. Datek linked to discussion forums on SI when no other brokerage firm would. Employees of Datek participated in SI discussions when no other brokerage firms would. I know from operating the SI site how abusive it can be to try to interact with the consumer due to a vocal negative (and often unreasonable) minority.

Companies like Datek have great intentions.
