Sort of. As the records released by the Russians show, the Reagan campaign cut a deal with the Iranians to hold onto the hostages until after the election in trade for weapons to use against the Iraqis. They continued making deals with the Iranians behind the scenes while they both blustered against each other for domestic consumption.
