>>So who gets it right?

Offline? Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Office Depot, Bloomingdales. I'm a huge Target fan now; several times I got frustrated at more expensive places, which seem to be harder hit by the tight labor market for whatever reason, and ended up finding something I liked more, for a fraction of the cost, at Target.

Overall, I found myself wishing a LOT more stuff could be handled online. I visited a bunch of consumer e-commerce sites, and even used some shopping bots for the first time, but was underwhelmed by everything I saw. AMZN is head and shoulders above just about everyone. I've been out of the stock for some time (I bought and sold around these price levels several months back; bought b/c I like the story, sold because I felt the price didn't adequately reflect execution risk, especially given the entry into electronics which I think is a mistake, and that bizarre conf. call in which Bezos looked back on the company's glorious history) but continue to be impressed by the company.
