Let's get some facts straight about Wilson. Immediately before the war, Joe Wilson said we shouldn't go to war with Iraq because if we did, Iraq would use its WMD's against us. At that time, he'd already taken his Niger trip and he was married to a CIA agent who was assigned to study WMD issues and he clearly believed Saddam had WMD's - his later statements to the contrary are therefore obvious lies.

February 28, 2003: Joe Wilson was interviewed by Bill Moyers. Wilson agreed with Bush’s SOTU remarks, and reiterated his belief that Saddam had WMD and that he would use them on US troops.

MOYERS: President Bush’s recent speech to the American Enterprise Institute, he said, let me quote it to you. "The danger posed by Saddam Hussein and his weapons cannot be ignored or wished away." You agree with that?

WILSON: I agree with that. Sure.

And there is Wilson's LA Times oped:

A 'Big Cat' With Nothing to Lose

Mb<Leaving Hussein no hope will trigger his worst weapons, U.S. envoy in historic '90 meeting warns

.....
There is now no incentive for Hussein to comply with the inspectors or to refrain from using weapons of mass destruction to defend himself if the United States comes after him.

And he will use them; we should be under no illusion about that.

Hussein and Aziz both told me directly that Iraq reserved the right to use every weapon in its arsenal if invaded, just as it had against Iran and later the Kurds.

The fact that thousands of men, women and children had died in these attacks fazed them not one bit. In fact, Aziz could barely be bothered to stop puffing on his Cuban cigar as he made these comments, of so little importance was the use of chemicals to kill people.

It is probably too late to change Hussein's assessment, and that will make any ensuing battle for Iraq that much more dangerous for our troops and for the Iraqis who find themselves in the battlefield.

Joe Wilson didn't start claiming Saddam didn't have WMD's until after the war when no WMD arsenals were found. He then lied about his trip to Niger.
