surprisingly, I didn't watch the debate last night. Reports seem to be consistent that Newt did a good job, as did Bachmann.

as far as political philosophies go, I am probably closest to Ron Paul. However, he has the problem that all real hardcore libertarians have. And that is that he is an idealogue and doesn't accept that we can't go from big government to libertopia overnight.

I do think that our military is far too geared for offense when it really should be geared for defense. But the fact is, we are already in a couple of fights (and potential fights) and we can't just make the history go away.

It's pretty clear to me that Perry will be the republican candidate in 2012. I think that we will find out that Bachmann and Palin will have a place in his administration.

I just hope that the republican candidates don't attack each other so much that they give obama ammunition. We (they) have to remember that in the end, it is "beat obama". For that reason alone, Pawlenty is out in my book.

One thing that I think that Bachmann understands that Pawlenty clearly does not is that having a congressional record of being instrumental in getting a bunch of laws passed isn't necessarily a great thing. I really do appreciate a congressperson who stops bad legislation.
