I fear that in these Christmas debates, Christians are behaving not as Christians but as a tribe: "We will pound them if they get in the way of our customs and rituals." Amen, sister. To me, the giveaways are these: the insistence that the Founders were Christians; the insistence that America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles; and the insistence that America is majority Christian. Yes, yes, and yes, but so what? Does that mean that Christians have the right to push everybody else around? And if they are prevented from doing so, get mad and get even? I don't think that's the spirit of Christmas.
