<<< My understanding is that is illegal (margin on calls), though, following SEC margin rules. Can you please confirm? TIA!>>>>
My full service broker does not allow margin on calls.
In response to my call to a discount broker his reply
, when I asked for my buying power, was that I had xxx buying power on stocks and xxx buying power on calls. I don't fully understand
but have no problem buying calls there.
On second thought, you may be very correct about no margin on calls, and he is allowing me to use stock margin to buy the calls.
Clear as mud !!!!! But he has no cash around !!Hehe
It may be useful to ask the broker about his policy.
I agree all calls are very risky, but if I was fully retired
I would not mind having 50% invested in Dell leaps.
Of those I own, a drop of around $25/sh would still leave them
in (overall) plus territory.
Go Brcm. Go Gnet. Yahooooooooooweeee-------------->
