What I was trying to point out is that by finding other sources for oil, North Sea,expanding Alaska etc.) and by designing more efficient motors heaters etc. the world came up with a surplus and reduced our dependence upon Arabian crude. The price /barrel 2 yrs ago hit lower than $12. Far lower than 1972 prices with inflation. A lot of these other sources cost more to produce a barrel, but companies bought them to reduce dependence upon OPEC. Same with GTW wrt Intel. Willy may well be better and cheaper but it is unlikely GTW will completely dump AMD for a $20 million payoff. In addition, the shortage seems to be getting worse, not better since Xmas. There could be many GTW's before shortage is over.
