I have made money by shorting MSFT at appropriate times and then covering. So far I'm up on doing that. I'll be looking later this week to do the same perhaps - I just got back from an overseas trip and need to get up to date before doing anything. In the last couple of months I've made nice money being long on Globalink. You don't have to be long MSFT or DELL or whatever to make money. At the moment I prefer to be long low beta stocks that seem undervalued. That way I'm a lot less nervous about my investments. David
