On July 7, 1997 Wave had a press release regarding it's relationship with the British company EPL and their ASDL high speed modems. EPL talked about modem speeds at 6.5 Mbits downstream and 680 Kbits upsteam. I'm not an expert by any means, but that seems pretty quick to me. The US high speed modems are probably around the same speed.
If the Wave Meter can handel the speed there it can do it here.

This is all getting very interesting.
