Why would Verizon want to have its existing spectrum using CDMA2000, and spend $5B to do so, yet use WCDMA in any new spectrum?

Maybe they've been talking to the Korean operators, who are all talking/acting like they'll do the exact same thing. Their current build-outs are CDMA2000, and the new spectrum they just bought in the auction is "intended" to be WCDMA. Apparently someone shipped some of that mad cow beef to Korea a few months back...
