So the Washington Post (actually the Bezo Post now) still clutches at its Al Gore.

If I were your friend at the Washington Post, I would would more concerned about where I could find my next job

since the Post is circling the drain.

The longtime owners (Grahams) sold the failing paper to Jeff Bezos.

The Post is in the process of selling their own building in DC.

The NY TIMES (or what is left of it) has already sold its own building in an attempt to stay afloat financially and is basically owned by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim.

Both papers have been cutting their staffs at a record pace for a number of years.

Your friend should consider it remarkable that he still has a job at the Post with all the carnage of its staff in the past few years.
