And good morning to you, JGoren:

since when did this thread become political except as it affects qcom business.
A long time ago.

Pierre, you give every appearance of being a left wing apologist ... spouting back hook, line and sinker the latest spin
I ain't apologizin'. OTOH, I see you too are unable to resist a bite of the forbidden fruit (see your lead sentence).

Faceit, the whole AG thing is all about pay back and exciting various interest groups so the Dems can raise money.
I like my spin much better than I like your spin.

I am frankly a lot more interested in Ashcroft's anti-trust and trade views;
I know he doesn't trust us left wingers. Not sure how he feels about trading with them commies.

I have no doubt that the man will do his best as attorney general and we will all be able sleep at night.
What is this obsession you conservatives have with a good night's sleep. That's twice it's been mentioned to me. Stay up late once - sin a little - you'll become more tolerant.

His pristine moral views
In the immortal words of a man whose picture I'm sure you carry in your breast pocket ... "There you go again." Why do you and Carolyn and others feel compelled to lead with your moral / religious beliefs. I got my own morals to worry about, thank you very much.

... will only result in a Justice Department that will not cotton to corruption inside government or violation of our constitutional rights. ...
That's a good thing. The question is can Ashcroft head such a Department, or will he let his moral stand trump his obligation to enforce all the laws as written. From what I've seen of his record, that's a fair question. I'm sure it will be addressed during the confirmation hearing. As I indicated in a previous post, absent an affirmative answer to that question he shouldn't be confirmed IMHO.

Let's see, in the course of one day I've been invited to leave the country by Torrance Jr. and excoriated as a spin spouting apologist by you. ... Every day should be so eventful.

:>)
