JHP and All, One newer investment book worth a look is "Do You Want To Make Money Or Would You Rather Have Fun," by John D. Spooner. I actually won this book for opening the most accounts in our branch during the month of August. Hooray for me. Anyhow, the answer to the book's title question, in my case, is "yes." I want to make money AND fool around, which readers of this thread already know.
The book is written by a broker from Salami Smith Barner Rubble, of all places. First of all, despite that fact, it is both well-written and funny. There is a huge amount of wisdom in the book and some absolutely idiotic advice. And much of it contradicts previous advice. It is offered in short, pithy (no "s" in that word <g>) sections that make for easy bathroom reading. I think it is worthwhile IF you are able to separate the worthwhile from the worthless. It strives to be a "Money Game" for current times, but it just isn't that deep. Still, I am enjoying the heck out of it, laughing and saying "right on" at times and throwing it across the room and breaking lamps at other times. Recommended for non-newbies. |
