I should clarify my previous post by saying that I own a GV Platinum, and it's a great modem. I don't think that Apple buying Global Village is a bad idea per se, but it's just not right for Apple now. Again, in order for this deal to go over any better than a fart in church, Jobs is going to have to unveil it as part of a really strong, broader plan. I haven't heard any rumors of this broader plan, so it'd be a real surprise if the Global Village deal came to pass.
We'll just have to wait and see, as always, how things turn out. I am very optimistic about Apple's current course. Aside from the G3 motherboard issue (which I don't know that Apple has addressed yet...anyone?), 'things' really seem to be on course for the company right now.
