Mobile operators to challenge Apple application service: report LONDON (MarketWatch) -- A dozen mobile phone operators are planning to build a technology platform that will deliver applications to all mobile phone users, in attempt to compete with Apple, which currently dominates in the application download offerings, the Sunday Times reports without citing sources. The paper said Orange, Telefonica and AT&T Inc. are part of the group that will make an announcement Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Handset makers Samsung, Sony Ericsson and LG are "believed to be supportive," the paper said. marketwatch.com
