George: Some of these transactions were for selling stock and some were for accumulating/exercising options on stock. Judging from the prices at which the stock was sold, in the 50's, I would guess they did it because they couldn't afford to buy the stock when an option came due or for some other financial/tax reason. The sales usually hardly touched their major holdings of stock.
