My feel for big mining plays likely to influence Vulcan in 1998--

1. Alberta-- Ashton, Pure gold, and others including Vulcan's diamond play: see fagan.stockscape.com

2. Labrador-- Donner Resouces (DML:V) and Copperhill Resources (CUHL:CDN) plays will likely replicate previous excitment over Diamond Fields at Voisey's bay, Labrador. Only God knows what is in the Goose South Property holds.

3. Newfoundland-- The ongoing extensive oil development and exploration in and around the province and the above expectations in production levels at Hibernia combined with an increasing interest by the majors in oil production on the West and East coast of Newfoundland is bound to attract interest in Vulcan's own significant oil find which I understand is due for further exploration as you note.

My feeling is that the "big money" that has been played out in the bull market over the past year now has to choose other sources as base on which to grow and I believe the recent influences which you note in your email can be attributed to this. The year-end cocktail circuit has probably been responsible for Vulcan and other junior companies getting some "free air time" with a consequence of the "big money" beginning to put their bets in strong junior resourse sector plays which include sound management and a probable or proven resourse record. The plays noted above are positioned to avail of investment attention by the "big money". Vulcan is rightfully getting some of the attention it deserves. This is my take!

Happy New Year!
