Duncan,

I have greatly respected your input, because it has real substance. You used to feed me ammo for my position on the AOL bitch thread.

I just wanted to say, after a completely unscientific survey in Indianapolis, all people I have talked to are ready to give up their AOL memberships. Roughly 1/3 of these people are new to the internet and don't have the patience to play with their modems or questionable software or constant busy/rejected connections.

I'm certain if AOL was hoping to get a barrel of new customers over the holidays, they made more enemies than friends. One guy told me after his 50 hours are up, he's cancelling. He wasn't even charged yet and he's pissed off.

I recently tried my soon to be cancelled AOL acct with the tcp/ip option. I couldn't get on. I have sucessfully in the past, so the problem is AOL's. Of course, I'm so pissed at AOL that most catastrophic events will be their fault as well.

Regards

Greg
