DJ NTT Data, Microsoft, Compaq Plan E-Commerce Svc - Nikkei

TOKYO (Nikkei)--NTT Data Corp. (J.NDC or 9613), Microsoft Co. (MSFT) and
Compaq Computer KK will form a joint venture next month to assist corporate customers in setting up e-commerce systems, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported in its Thursday morning edition, citing sources at the companies.
The venture will offer a package including system configuration, the ettlement of payments and storage and delivery services. The partners claim the venture will allow customers to establish an e-commerce business quickly
and at half to two-thirds the usual cost. Other options including the creation of an online catalogue will also be available to customers.
The venture will be capitalized at Y400 million. NTT Data is likely to take a share of more than 50%, with the remainder divided equally by Microsoft and Compaq. The new company aims for sales of Y3 billion in fiscal 2003.
