"IBM forced out of Intel chip market"

Yes, interesting development for both IBM and National. If IBM was taking a big piece of the Cyrix profit and competing for design wins, this would give National an interesting position going forward.

So, what does IBM do now? They say they are working with ST which is an interesting stock. They will develop Metaflow? I've never heard of this.

Also they are working with IDT. I had thought IDT had a lot of their own manufacturing capacity in a new facility in Oregon. Recent announcements from IBM about using copper in MPU's sounded like an interesting development on the speed front. I don't think they want to get out of the business. Buy AMD? Or develop ARM with Compaq?

Where do they go from here?

Regards,

Mark
