From Yahoo ARPT Thread:

ARPT vs ATON vs FFIV

I have been thinking for some time why CSCO bought ARPT and I cant come up w/ a conclusion .... but let me say few words about all since I am very familiar w/ all.
ARPT is the weakest of all .. has the smallest number of features and is lacking way behind ATON and FFIV ... no support for VRRP, no support for ISL of 802.1Q (come on cisco get em to support at least ISL) ... very limited global load balacing schemes (I would rather use round robin DNS etc etc) ... and any features that they have they are on the CS-800 unit .. the CS-100 has nothing ..

ATON is more robust .. many features .. excellent box (kills CSCO local director) ... good for local/global load balancing ...

FFIV excellet as well .. pc based architecture .. a lot of features ... no ports so one needs a hub w/ it .. ffiv has excellent support ... combine it w/ 3DNS and you are set ..

btw i own all 3 stocks and was gonna sell ARPT on friday but heard of the news so will keep it now ... w/o any questions CSCO is a leader in routing ... but no way close to load balancers .. .if they acquired ATON then that would have been good .. but now they acquired another failing product to add it to their already failed ones such a LD, catalyst etc etc.

Happy trading ..
