JPR:This is very much so in Kerala among Christians as well, I am not sure about Muslims but I bet you they have their own 'caste' system of one sort of the other. I am sure the West has their own kind of 'caste' system, since you probably know what that is I am not going to delve into it. Speaking of Nadars, I was told that in certain ares of Kerala and Tamil Nadu same families practice different religion- ie the father,the mother,the grown up children all could be of various religious persuasions.
