Green Bay, WI Government waste at work. A project was bid last week with the low bid being $681,000. The next lowest bid was $761,000. This was a hub zone project, but because not a single contractor from a hub zone bid the job, they threw the two bids out and the Army Corp. of Engineers found an insulation company in Milwaukee to bid the work at $2.4 million. This company does not have quads. The project is to build a causeway to a dump island in the river. We now are spending more money for a company that is not capable of doing the job, nor was interested in the job...they will now have the job and will pocket over $1,000,000 of profit for doing nothing. Oh, btw, they are going to hire another contractor to haul and build the causeway at the above prices. They just will turn in the paperwork. This is our government at work. Taxpayers have been robbed...again.
