Mr. Mark, thanks for your assistance and advice to me last week. (reply#9136)

"so why not let us know what procedure you follow prior to installing new software? and what kind of things you do to keep your machine humming right along? i think it will be helpful for all of us. our goal here is for everyone to learn."

I didn't know I had to follow any procedures before I installed new software. Only thing I do is call my brother-in-law for a talk-through. Plus I try not to have to install new software. Where do I find out how I should "prepare my operating system"?

I don't know what is meant by "system maintenance". I clean the monitor face, and vacuum cat hairs off the top. I followed one of your posts where you helped someone get to accessories/system tool/system information/etc. (aside: that was an interesting and helpful post, thanks) I noticed right above that system information folder, there's a scheduled task folder. I did go there and I saw I have three folders: add a scheduled task, run live update for Norton Anti, and Tune-up Application Start. When I first got the computer up-and-running, my brother-in-law went to the Norton site and Microsoft site and downloaded latest virus updates and Microsoft security updates. I believe he scanned and defragged.

I disabled GoBack and I'm happier for it. I could unistall, but I'm not not comfortable doing that. Seems like every time I try something, something else happens. (My quick launch bar is now missing the GoBack icon because I did something in looking at GoBack in preparing this post)
Gee, now I see "task scheduler" in in my quick launch bar- never noticed that before.

Here's a question for you/you guys: When I click on a URL within an SI post (for example), it opens in a new window. But I notice on my old computer (uses Netscape), it opens full size. With my new computer (uses IE), the new window is only half-size, so I've got to click in the corner to bring it to full size. How do I get these URLs to open automatically to full size?

Paul
