The reason for the partial purchase would be to keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive. Purchase an integrator outright, and you have a couple of people who make a lot of money - and then a company that falls apart. Purchase 1/2 of the company and get the whole thing worked up to go out and sell your products.

At least that would be my take on it. Pretty clever guys exist at MRVC, and my hat is off to them if we can "inherit the earth" via a strategy like this.
