The reason EG gets negative reactions is because
she is simultaneously dead wrong a fair percentage
of the time and simultaneously self-assured about
the correctness of her predictions. If you want
some male counterparts I'll propose two.

Jimmy Rodgers has been yelling that the shrewd thing
thing to do is to short INTC for a long time (at least
since it hit about 85). The fact that he has been
dead wrong doesn't keep him from being smug about
future predictions.

Joe Granville stacked up a record as being the single
worst predictor of the market over the past few years.
When called by a reporter about this, he asserted that
in fact he was the best. My people have a word for
this. The word is chutzpah and a loose translation
is the b*lls it takes to kill your parents and plead
for mercy on the grounds that you are an orphan.

There are lots of bad analysts. The bad analysts that
blithely never admit they erred, dispute reality,
are big on self-promotion and relolutely clain
infallibility should expect a modicum of calumny when
their predictions go bad - real bad.

EG is under the gun for being wrong, not being female.
If there has been any bashing of her for her gender as
opposed to her hideous miscalls, that is despicable.
As a husband of a remarkable and successful wife and
the father of a remarkable and successful daughter I
am aware of glass ceiling and worse barriers to females
of talent and drive getting proper recognition. That is
not EGs problem. Her problem is her track record.
As soon as she gets her calls straight, she will have
no detracters. Right now I personally have no faith
in anything she says until she rebuilds something
resembling a current track record. By the way, I remember
October 1987, and her assertion then that the market was
"irrationally exuberant" was hardly a unique or particularly
keen insight. It was that single call that EG has
self-promoted into her meal ticket.

Other than that, I am still bullish on INTC
for the next 24 months or so. Unless there is a
meltdown.

Best regards and good investing,
Burt
