Missed that PR.. Was distracted with festivities yesterday.. ;0)

That is a company to company settlement... I presume related to the civil lawsuit AMSC filed in China.. (so that's good news)..

As I mentioned in previous posts, the Federal case is a separate issue. But I'm sure the settlement will factor into the ultimate sentence that Sinovel receives.. Again, IMO, for their to be heavy fines, there has to be a heavy damage assessment (fines are apparently based upon a multiple of the damages).. But as the "victim", AMSC may have been asked to provide their input on the sentencing criteria.

That will be interesting to see on the 6th.. Will it be "gravy" on top of this non-criminal settlement case in Chinese courts? A suspended sentence for Sinovel, contingent on their fulfilling the terms of this settlement within 10 months (failure of which would immediately trigger the Federal sentence in full)?

What I am most curious about is the non-exclusive licensing agreement.. What will be the terms, and does it require Sinovel to move towards retrofitting their turbines that are currently using stolen software, with updated code? That would have a LONG-LASTING impact on AMSC's prospects, and restore a lot of interest that originally fueled interest in the Sinovel-AMSC business arrangement, putting it back on track.

That original contract was for around $800 million, as I recall.. Certainly not chickenfeed..

Either way we look at it, they have money in the bank coming.. with renewed prospects for even more through the licensing agreement. That SHOULD put some upside on the shares..
