Hooray! News out today and the stock didn't go down. To give people an idea of how long it takes to get these types of projects to the sales phase, 3 years ago while visiting the IDX Sunnyvale headquarters there were two murders in California prisons. Mr. Maase informed me that the company had been contacted by prison officials about the need for improved security. This was considered a high priority by the state. So three years later it is a reality. A long time some might think, but this application of the technology had never been done before. This is what makes IDX the leader. Other companies have scanners and/or soft-ware or algorithms, but unloved IDX continues to be the innovative leader. With the O'Hare pilot program likely to become another pioneering application. I would not count out something truly remarkable to come from the IDX-Oracle relationship, or IDX-CA for that matter. Randy Fowler continues to amaze me with his vision. IDX-Sylvan is brilliant. Mr. Fowler is a smart and savvy business man who knows what will contribute to the bottom line well into the future. The prison application of biometric technology goes to show just how many arenas IDX can get involved in. To the naysayers who want bottom-line results now. Move on to a more mature industry. Look at the big biometric picture. An industry in its infancy and very few companies with significant sales/profits. IDX has spent its money wisely on R&D, acquisitions and enlarging its salesforce. Exactly what we should all be pleading for the company to do. Building the premier infrastruture in biometrics takes money and the short-term effects on the bottom-line wane in comparison to the future productivity and profitability of these investments in the companies future. Those who think Fowler needs to be replaced should invest in the biometric company with a better CEO. My money is on Randy. IMHO, Mr. Fowler is the reason to own IDX .
For now ( I know for some its been forever), enjoy the low price on IDX, e.g. IDX now at bargain basement prices. IDX is doing things that have never been done, and someday the stock price will reflect that.
Keep cool.
