Way OT re: I sold it, and all my other organs
I hear there is a black market in organs, which was created when desperate rich people began offering large sums (40,000-150,000$). The official waiting lists for "free" organs is so long, most people die before they get to the top of the list. So, in places like Brazil and Thailand, a poor person will say, "My children are hungry, and I don't really need 2 kidneys. My liver will grow back to normal size in a few months, after one lobe is cut out." This market is being undercut by a supply coming from unwilling donors, who are kidnapped and cut up for parts (like black-market car parts). This is most definitely a "caveat emptor" market; it is up to the buyer to make sure they aren't getting Hepatitis C or AIDS with the organ. Hopefully, cloning and/or tissue regeneration techniques will end this trade, by creating adequate supplies.
