I don't think the press on Bush would be as negative, if we weren't engaged in an unpopular war in Iraq. I hope American aid will be generous, but I also hope people world wide are able to notice it, and that we get some really needed good will from it- because anger with America has distorted people's perceptions of other issues (and of course American perceptions of most other areas of the world are also distorted, so I'm not saying this is a problem unique to any particular country).
