I think Pre Election Bush, post election bush and pre 9/11 bush had a swagger about him that pissed off those on the left, perhaps rightfully so. The fact that he didnt win the popular vote didnt help at all. What the war opponents missed is the seminal change in the man post 9/11. Believe it or not i voted for gore--decided in the booth that bush wasnt smart enough. Like John M. I too can be in spiro agnews words "an effete intellectual snob".
I wonder how all of this would have turned out if gore had been elected? I will leave that unanswered. All i will say is that Post 9/11 Bush along with Tony Blair and our kids who risked it all have made me very proud. I am glad the brits are pleased as well. Mike
