I'm back.

Read the last few days worth of posts. What a change.
I take it that John Kerry died...and Bill Clinton thinks Kerry's staff should die too.

Someone from here and 9 Miles Falls, Wa, sent two phone cards to Kim K (retired SF Major) in Germany. Kim asked me to tell you they went to two wounded, a Navy SEAL and SOF pilot and to a member of the 3rd Special Forces Group, LT Carl G and SSG Dick B.

Kim's present effort is to place several dvd players and dvd movies on each ward in Landstuhl Hospital for use by the American wounded who are confined to bed. These will be distributed through VFW Post 27 in Frankfurt, Germany.

AAFES, the military PX system, has begun a program of providing each American wounded soldier a $250 gift certificate as soon as he or she arrives at a major medical facility. This is a wonderful gift. It enables each troop to buy socks, underwear, sweat suit, shoes, shaving gear and other necessities as soon as they arrrive and all at discounted PX prices.

I was told the Christmas phone card program for the wounded at Walter Reed Military Hospital was a huge success. One retired SFer had a phone installed on a severely wounded ward. It is available 24/7 to the soldiers there and the SFers' company is now picking up the tab.

My SFA Chapter sent Holiday cards including phone cards and gift packages to SF units in Afghanistan and Iraq. I got the following note in yesterday's mail:
"Dear Mike and SFA Chapter 57,
Just opened your card & got the phone card.
That will go to one of our young troops to stay in touch with distant family.
We're quite busy as SF units always are!
I appreciate your thoughts and your gift to our soldiers.
Respectfully,
CSM JH
10th Special Forces"

Also received a nice "Three Snow Man" thank you letter from Swiftee Steve Garner. There was a question about his address. I have the latest.

I opened the following e-mail message this morning. It is from an SF source and was originated by a career SFer. The Hawaii based 25th Infantry Division has served in Afghanistan and is presently in Iraq. I chuckled at the way an SF mind can identify a humanitarian effort as a "New target".

"New target. Tripler Army Hospital in Hawaii, which has received more than 300 wounded (25th Infantry Division Soldiers, for the most part, I reckon) has run out of phone cards for the troops there. I have verified this fact with a close friend who works in the Public Affairs office there. So if you missed the opportunity to send some to Walter Reed, you have a second chance. Send them to:

Tripler Army Medical Center PAO
ATTN.: MCHK-IO
1 Jarrett White Road
Honolulu, HI 96859"

Thanks everyone for supporting the troops and Happy Holidays to all.
