0738 ET - S&P futures are sharply lower following a 12% selloff in Japan's Nikkei Stock Average as markets continue to react to Friday's weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs report. Investors are worried the Fed has waited too long to cut rates and will need to play catch-up when it meets in September. Tech stocks are being hit hard premarket, with AI favorite Nvidia off 11%, Super Micro Computer down 10%, Micron Technology losing 6%, Broadcom sliding 8%. Apple is off 7% following a disclosure that Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway sold nearly half of its Apple stock in 2Q. Kellanova is bucking the trend, surging 19% after WSJ reported that candy giant Mars Inc. is in advanced talks to acquire the maker of Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts, Eggo waffles and other foods. S&P drop 148 points. ( patrick.sheridan@wsj.com )
