Looks like PLSIA has two competitiors now in the Dental Drill market, ADLI and Biolase, not to mention possible ADLI patent problems on the Dental Drill.
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Shares of Biolase Technology Inc. rose sharply in heavy trading Thursday after the company received clearance from the Food and Drug Administration to market its DermaLase laser system for a range of dermatological and general surgical applications.
Biolase, which makes and sells medical, dental and surgical products, said uses of the system include incision, excision, ablation, vaporization and coagulation of soft tissue.
At midday, Biolase shares (BLTI) were up 87.5 cents, or 29%, at $3.875. Nasdaq volume of nearly 400,000 shares was far above the daily average of about 89,000.
Biolase also is testing an improved laser system for drilling teeth, the Millennium.
