I think the truth is somewhere in between. The native groups are after guarantees of benefits, as well as concerns about the environment. However, money motivates these people probably more, with the exception of the elders. But the leadership, for the most part, are boomers. And they are more interested in the $$, economic development than they are in hunting. Lets face it, half of the NWT's aboriginal population is under 25. They are more concerned about jobs, and won't be returning to land anytime soon - save for how the non-aborginal population enjoys the outdoors.

I agree with your comment about the Premier or GNWT, they are fairly pro-Mining Development despite what the Fraser Ins? has to say about the NWT....

What surprises me is that I thought that ABer had been very progressive and had signed deals with all the communities in the effected area. Perhaps they missed a few native groups?
