Norm, not exactly, under some circumstances, royalties are treated as long term capital gains and thus taxed at a lower rate than earned income, so it make sense to take some of the profits out in royalties (or licensing fees payments) if it can be shown (to the IRS) that other parties (the majority partner, or other independent parties that buy systems) pays royalties at the same rate. This is academic, however, until such a deal is reality, at this point, it is, unfortunately, still just a speculation.
