More like eventual or reluctant, I'm told. :-)

A significant disadvantage - most homes are not wired with 2 or 3 40/60amp runs to the existing water heater. It's like installing two or three standard electric water heaters - you need the capacity in service and room in the panel for one or two additional breakers.

Another advantage is not having a tank full of water waiting to leak all over the place causing possible major damage or overheating and exploding if the relief valve fails

Love to have one - maybe in 10 years after the new heater wears out - need to talk to my electrician neighbor about running some wire - he built the house - sure hope he used conduit and can just fish a few more wires 30 ft to the panel.
