Dave. I was suprised to learn (telechoice news) that part of the
BT contract could go to ALA with DMT modems. ALA participated
in the VOD trial in England where they installed about 1000 lines
using the Westell CAP modems. All three biders (ALA, Fujitsu and
Nortel) were rumoured to depoly Westell modems in their bid.

It will be interesting to find out whether BT asked for DMT to be
included in the bids or ALA submitted their bid with DMT. I am
not very good at reading between the lines but the
telechoice news suggests to me that Fujitsu got part of the
contract was based on the strength of the trial and the Chairman
has ties in Fujitsu.

Regards

Louie
