Calgary police are asking for the public's help in locating a 24-year-old man charged in connection to a November 'dine-and-dash' incident who has skipped his court date.
According to police, a man entered Muse Restaurant and Lounge on Nov. 7 and ordered a meal worth $156 — which included two cocktails, an appetizer, dinner, half a bottle of wine, dessert and coffee — and then left without paying.
On Nov. 28., police say they arrested and charged a Calgary suspect with one count of meal fraud.
However, the accused failed to appear before court Jan. 2 and a warrant was then issued for his arrest, said Calgary police Staff Sgt. Darren Cave.
"We are looking for the suspect, he was in our custody once, but released on a promise to appear with a court date of Jan. 2, but that court date has come and passed."
Similar dine-and-dash incidents happened around the same time at two other downtown restaurants, but police have laid no charges in those cases.
Blink Restaurant and Bar manager Nick Hewton says staff are still talking about an incident there.
"The server who it happened was just kind of shell shocked a bit, it's something that had never happened to her before."
Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
